2024 GESTEM Cancelled

It is with regret that we must inform you that GESTEM 2024, scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Auraria Campus, has been canceled. We understand the disappointment this may cause, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. More details are in the Cancellation Notice. We appreciate your understanding and support during these challenging times.

Girls Exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (GESTEM) is an exciting event that introduces middle school girls to the wide range of opportunities in potential careers in STEM fields through hands-on workshops and interactions with engineering professionals. RMS hosts around 1,000 girls, at no cost to the girls to attend.

Event Goals:

  • Identify and strategically invite young women that may not have exposure to STEM in their current school or home atmosphere
  • Demonstrate how STEM careers use math and teamwork to solve problems where helping people is an integral part of STEM careers
  • Demonstrate that innovation requires diversity in gender, ethnicity, religion, culture and many other factors

Volunteers
A successful GESTEM event relies on our amazing volunteers! If you have experience with outreach programming or just want to get involved this year, please reach out!

  • Join the GESTEM planning committee!! Please email Sarah Gilmore if you would like to join the GESTEM planning committee.
  • Group Guide – Lead a group of ~8 girls through the event, interacting with them on a one-on-one basis all day.
  • Workshop Presenter – Share what you love to do with GESTEM participants! Design and present a hands-on workshop highlighting a STEM field
  • Floaters – Even if you can’t attend the entire event, we would love your help! Registration, lunch distribution, student wrap-up and many other events during the day are in need of dedicated volunteers.
