Colorado Women’s Day is annual event for women in Colorado to participate in the globally-celebrated International Women’s Day which was first marked in 1911. Today, International Women’s Day is supported by organizations, groups, governments and individuals worldwide committed to a more gender equal world. Christi Wisleder is a 2023 Colorado Women’s Day Nonprofit Volunteer nominee for her contributions as an unpaid volunteer in the service of a recognized nonprofit organization.
Christi Wisleder joined the Society of Women Engineers in 2006 as a corporate partner member and started being involved in the local Rocky Mountain Section. Christi volunteered for a variety of roles within the organization. Christi is the current Vice President of Outreach for SWE RMS, providing oversight and guidance to outreach focused committee chairs and strengthening a newer initiative to establish SWENext as a local SWE outreach resource. Christi served as President in FY22, leading the geographically dispersed section as they grew to 575 members during a pandemic to find a balance between in-person and virtual events to maintain member engagement. At a time when many organizations were struggling with a path forward, Christi’s leadership strengthened SWE RMS membership base and offerings to members.
Previous roles on the SWE RMS Executive Council include Vice President (1 year) where she restructured the Corporate Partnerships efforts to strengthen the relationship between the SWE Rocky Mountain Section and local STEM companies and Vice President of Professional Enrichment (2 years) where she partnered with local companies, employee resource groups, professional organizations, and colleges to provide premier networking and professional development programming through the Professional Enrichment Tech Talks. Christi also served as the SWE RMS Scholarship Chair for 8 years, as Fundraising Co-Chair for 2 years, and as Essay Contest Co-Chair for 3 years. Christi developed marketing materials, created registration and website pages, secured corporate partnerships, served on the program subcommittee, and oversaw awards during her 2.5 years of service on the Spring Summit committee to bring a high impact professional development conference to STEM collegiates and professionals.
At the society level of SWE, Christi served on the 2020 WE Local Raleigh Host Committee Program Subcommittee to deliver high quality and varied program content to 5 WE Local conferences.
